Finding a White Mountains wedding venue that handles the ceremony, the dinner, the dancing, and the beds afterward is harder than it should be. Most properties in northern New Hampshire give you one of those and leave you to solve the rest with shuttles and a second contract. Hideaway Inn Franconia Notch was built the other way around. Seventy acres in Sugar Hill, a hilltop that has drawn people up for the view since 1880, an indoor event level long enough to seat dinner and still leave a dance floor, and thirty-two rooms upstairs when the night is over.

Inside the main event level

The main floor runs the length of the building, which is the single most useful thing about it. There is no support column parked in the middle of your dance floor and no awkward L-shape that hides half your guests around a corner. Long, wide, open plank floors, with a brick chimney breast and built-in white shelving breaking up the walls so the room reads as a house and not a hall.

Because the room is one continuous run, it takes a floor plan in zones. Cocktails at one end, dinner through the middle, band or DJ at the far end, and guests move between them without anyone having to announce a room change. It is equally comfortable as a single seated dinner for a rehearsal night or a corporate session with a screen at one end.

Light, and a deck that doubles the room

One full wall is glass. Picture windows and multiple sets of sliding doors run down the length of the space, so the room stays bright through a late-afternoon ceremony and gold through a September dinner. Wall sconces and recessed lighting take over after sunset.

Those sliding doors open straight onto the covered lower deck, which is included with the interior in every venue rental. In practice that means your usable footprint roughly doubles in good weather. Groups run cocktail hour out there under string lights, set long farm tables for dinner, or leave it open as the spot guests drift to between courses. It is covered, so an afternoon shower does not end the party, and the doors stay open so the two spaces work as one.

Bring your own caterer

We do not provide food and beverage directly. Venue rental covers the event space, and you are free to work with any licensed caterer you like. Our preferred partner is Chef Joe’s Catering, and couples who want the simplest path usually start there, but the kitchen is yours to fill. Family barbecue, raw bar, taco truck on the lawn, a chef you have been waiting years to hire: all of it works here, and none of it costs you a per-plate markup from us.

Thirty-two rooms means nobody drives home

The part of the weekend most venues cannot solve is where 90 people sleep. Here they sleep upstairs. Thirty-two rooms across the property, available as a full buy-out, which turns a one-night event into a two or three day weekend: welcome drinks Friday, ceremony and reception Saturday, breakfast together Sunday before anyone points a car south.

The same floor works for a lot more than a reception:

• Corporate retreats and offsites. One long room, a full property buy-out, no other guests, and no cell-signal-shaped distractions.
• Family reunions. Seventy acres, lawn games, and a dinner space big enough for everyone at once.
• Milestone birthdays and anniversaries. Right-sized at 50 guests, still comfortable at 150.
• Rehearsal dinners and welcome parties. The deck alone handles these beautifully.
• Holiday parties. The November to May rate makes this the most affordable large private space in the region.

Where you are

Sugar Hill sits just west of Franconia Notch, roughly 30 minutes from Franconia Notch State Park and Cannon Mountain. Guests with a free morning have the Flume Gorge, the Cannon tram, and Polly’s Pancake Parlor within a short drive, which is a real advantage when you are asking people to travel for a weekend.
