We built Hideaway Inn Franconia Notch the other way around. Check-in happens on your phone, straight to your door, so nobody is standing in line at a desk. That frees the shared rooms to do what they should have been doing all along: hold the part of the trip that happens between the trailhead and the pillow.

The 19th Hole
The name is a nod to the ground this hotel sits on. Sugar Hill has been a golf address for well over a century, and the course out front is part of the property’s story, not a footnote to it.
The 19th Hole is where the day gets recounted. It is the loudest of the three rooms and unapologetic about it. Come in with grass on your shoes or dust from the Notch on your calves, claim a seat, and settle whatever argument your group started three miles back. Cards get dealt here. Bets get made here. Nobody is going to shush you.

The Commons
The Commons is the room that works in the morning and works again at four in the afternoon, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.
Premium coffee runs 24/7, so the early-start crowd can be caffeinated and out the door before the mountain gets busy. Wi-Fi is fast enough that a Monday can quietly become part of a long weekend without anyone at home noticing. Big tables, room to spread out a map or a laptop, and enough foot traffic that you will end up talking to the couple who just came off Franconia Ridge whether you planned to or not.
That last part is the point. The Commons is where guests actually meet each other. We did not stumble into that; the room is shaped for it.
The Living Room
Then there is the room for the end of the day.
The Living Room is the quiet one. Lower light, deeper seats, a view that earned this property its original name back when it was the Sunset Hill House. When the light goes long over the Franconia Range, this is the room you want to be sitting in, and you will not be the first person to have that thought here. People have been watching that exact sunset from this ridge since the 1880s.
Bring a book. Bring a drink from next door. Bring nothing. The Living Room does not ask anything of you.
Why three rooms instead of one big one
Because a trip has different speeds, and one room cannot hold all of them.
